Early Years
1997 The Hillsboro Lacrosse Club started with only
a dozen or so players. Then MBA coach , John Baer-former '76 All-American came to HHS to find boys to play lacrosse. He added a former MBA standout player as coach and the team began practicing at Palmer Park and Bell Meade and only playing away games. It was a tough year, but a win over Father Ryan and hard nosed play earned the Burros a reputation as a gritty, hard hitting team. '97 NOTABLE SENIORS D- Jeff Krebs, M-Wes Martus, G-Luther Tanley, M/FO-Donnie Tidwell.
1998 Now sponsored by HHS English teacher Mr Jeffery Marks, the Burros started playing thier first home games on 10 Ave S beind the MNPS storage building. With new players, "Burro Lax" jerseys, trips to Knoxville and Bell Buckle, a varsity team was beginning to take hold at Hillsboro. '98 NOTABLE SENIORS A-Andy Moore, M-Van Koomen, M-Neil Stinson
1999 John Baer leaves MBA to come to Hillsboro. Many players and coaches follow (incl current coach Darrell Fisher). The team starts pracating at Hillsboro and for the first time wears all matching equipment and jerseys. '99 NOTABLE SENIORS D Joe Dinwiddie*
2000 The Burros become city wide club team, Nashville Outlaws, allowing more boys from Nashville to join the ranks. A .500 team, with a close loss to MBA's Varsity team, Outlaws barely miss the post-season. '00 NOTABLE SENIORS M-Tommy Anderson, M-Richard Garrett, A/M- Doug Conway
